Terms & Conditions

For the purpose of these Terms and Conditions, the words “we” and “our” mean Republic Bank Limited (the “Bank”). The words “you” and “your” mean the individual Purchaser or User of the Republic Bank Card. The word “Cardholder” means the recipient or user of the Card.

The bmobile Visa Prepaid International Card is a personalized, reloadable, prepaid debit card, which is “loaded” at a cost of TT$20.00 for each load amount at your request at any branch of Republic Bank Limited. The card is issued in TT$ and can be used locally and internationally, at any ATM, Point of Sale terminal or online where Visa cards are accepted. The maximum balance on the card cannot exceed TT$3,200 at any time. Each time the card is used, the value of the Card balance will decrease by the amount of the transaction. The card is not linked to or issued in connection with any deposit account established in “your” name and is not insured by the Deposit Insurance.

All transactions completed in a currency other than the currency of the Card will be converted to TT$. The conversion will be pursuant to the specific International Provider’s regulations in effect. The rate selected by the International Provider is determined from (i) a range of rates available from wholesale currency markets for the applicable central processing date and/or (ii) Government mandated rates in effect for the applicable central processing date. The International Provider may charge to the Bank, international service fees and currency conversion fees. Accordingly, a percentage mark-up may be added to the exchange rate and/or apply a related international service fee to the Account, as may be determined by the Bank from time to time. The Bank will not assume any risk associated with foreign currency exchange gains or losses from currency conversion resulting from the Cardholder’s use of the Credit Card. The Bank also reserves the right to apply a fee to the Card Account, as may be determined by the Bank from time to time for each purchase or Cash Advance made outside of Trinidad and Tobago regardless of whether purchase or Cash Advance is made in foreign currency or Trinidad and Tobago dollars.

Charges and Commission

Card Fee – TT$199.00

Each load – TT$20.00 per load

Replacement Card Fee – TT$50.00

Currency Conversion Fee – 2.99% of all international transactions

Monthly Service Fee – TT$25.00

ATM Fee – US$1.08/TT$7.00 when used at non-Republic Bank Limited ATMs. Note that the fees for Cash Advances completed at Foreign ATMs are unknown and may be charged to the card balance

Cash Out Refund Fee – TT$20.00


A confidential Personal Identification Number (PIN) will be assigned for use at any ATM or at any Point of Sale terminal with PIN capability. Generally when used at a Point of Sale terminal the cardholder will be required to sign the Sales Slip and may be required to provide valid identification to authenticate the transaction. In the event you lose your PIN you will need to visit any branch of Republic Bank Limited to “”cash out” any remaining funds upon presentation of a valid piece of identification and if required, purchase a new card. If you deem that your PIN has been compromised, the card will have to be closed and the funds “cashed out” as stated above.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Cards

If your card has been stolen, misplaced or damaged and is still active, please notify the Republic Bank Call Centre at 1-868-627-3348 to make a report, and the card will be blocked . You will have to visit any branch of Republic Bank Limited to have the card closed and the funds “cashed out” and a new card purchased.

You agree to provide information requested by the Bank to investigate your inquiry. The Cardholder will give to the Bank all the information in the Cardholder’s possession as to the circumstances of the loss, theft or misuse of the Credit Card or disclosure of the PIN and take all steps deemed necessary by the Bank to assist in the recovery of a missing Credit Card. In the event of any such loss, theft or misuse being suspected, the Bank may provide the police or other pertinent authority with any information it considers relevant whether relative to the Credit Card Account or otherwise. If a Credit Card is reported as lost, stolen or liable to misuse, that Credit Card must not subsequently be used, but must be cut in half and returned immediately to any branch of Republic Bank Limited.

If a report is not made for the lost card or PIN compromise and the card is used by an unauthorized party, the cardholder will be responsible for all of the usage on the card.

Use of the Card

All transactions done with your bmobile Visa Prepaid International Card require your card and the input of your pre-assigned PIN and/or your signature. It is understood that all transactions are made either by the Purchaser or the User as authorized by the Purchaser, unless you have notified the Bank that the card was lost or stolen.

You can use your card to access cash at any ATM or Point of Sale terminal that accepts Visa cards worldwide. You can also use your card to purchase goods and services online. When a merchant requests authorization for a Card transaction, the transaction may be authorized if the Card balance is sufficient to cover it at the time of the request, or deny the transaction if the balance is not sufficient to cover it. When a transaction is authorized, a “hold” will be automatically placed on the Card balance for the amount authorized, the available Card balance will be reduced by that amount, and that amount will not be available for subsequent Card transactions.

You agree to release Republic Bank Limited from all liability arising out of our authorization of a transaction and the resulting “holds” placed on the Card balance, including our refusal to authorize subsequent transactions. We are not responsible for failure of a merchant to complete a transaction with the Card. We may limit the number of authorizations in a day or deny an authorization if we suspect fraudulent activity or for other security reasons. Transactions on your bmobile Visa Prepaid International Card is limited to:

Maximum ATM withdrawals per day – 3 up to TT$1,000.00

Maximum POS transactions per day – 10 up to TT$3,200.00

The Bank shall not be liable if it is unable to perform its obligations due directly or indirectly to the failure of any machine, data processing system or transmission link or to industrial dispute or to any cause outside the control of the Bank, its agents, servants or sub-contractors. This includes the integrated bmobile phone app which will allow you access to alerts, card balances and account history on your bmobile Visa Prepaid International Card.

You agree that use of the Card at any merchant, whether or not you have signed any sales or debit authorization, will constitute a simultaneous debit from the Card balance. You agree not to use the Card for a transaction that exceeds the Card balance, and you will be liable to the Bank for any amounts paid in excess of the Card balance.


It is your responsibility to retain all receipts in order to keep track of the Card balance and also for any future queries. Monthly statements are not printed for this account.


We may adjust the Card balance to correct any errors made by us in debiting or crediting the Card. You agree to promptly repay any amount we credit to the Card in error. In case of any suspected errors in your Card balance, call us at the number on the back of the Card. If a Merchant issues a refund voucher in respect of a Credit Card Transaction, the Bank will credit to the Card Account the amount shown to be due when it receives the refund voucher or other simple refund verification acceptable to the Bank, unless such refund voucher or verification is received by the Bank then (subject to any rights vested in the cardholder by statute) the amount will be payable in full to the Bank and no claim by a Cardholder against the Merchant may be the subject of set-off or counter claim against the Bank.

Cancellation of Card; Unclaimed Funds

We may suspend use of the Card or terminate electronic access to the Card (permanently or temporarily) with or without cause and without prior notice to you. You may cancel the Card at any time by cutting it in two and mailing it to Republic Bank Credit Card Centre with an appropriate letter signed by you. The balance on the Card may become unclaimed funds escheatable to the Bank, if, as shown by our records, you have not corresponded with us concerning the Card balance after it has been cancelled or expired.


These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago and the parties hereto hereby submit to the jurisdiction of the Courts of Trinidad and Tobago on any matter relating to the Terms and Conditions.

The Bank may vary this Agreement and/or these conditions at any time in its sole discretion by giving the Cardholder notice of the change through announcements on the Bank’s website or otherwise and such amendment shall be binding upon the Cardholder (including, for the avoidance of doubt, an Authorized User).
